On 19th and 20th October 2019, during the two day “Media Literacy Workshop”, young people were able to learn the key concepts of media literacy and develop their knowledge on the risks related to violent extremism. Through presentations, group work and discussions, participants were able to improve their understanding of detecting and recognizing different types of media influences and to learn key concepts and methods on how to protect themselves from negative impact from the media in general. Following six sessions were held during the two-day workshop:
Participants were highly motivated to learn more on the topics and engage in different tasks during the workshop. The sharing of experiences helped them realize the broader effect of the media and their online activities. The activities were implemented within the project “Moving towards Sustainable Approaches in Preventing Violent Extremism in the Western Balkans – Phase IV”, funded by the UK Government.
