In March 2019, IOM Skopje organized a 2-day study visit for 14 national border police officials in the Local Coordination Center Elhovo in Bulgaria under the EU funded project “Special Measure on supporting the Republic of North Macedonia to improve its border and migration management capabilities”.

The aim of the study visit was to strengthen the Border Police’s capacity on aspects related to the joint operations with the European Border and Coast Guard (EBCG) Agency – Frontex.

The study visit, hosted by Frontex and the Bulgarian Border Police, was an opportunity for the national Border Police officials to get acquainted with the work conditions of joint operations, including the organization of de-briefings and briefing meetings for the deployed border police officers, as well as with the organizational aspects of the planned Joint Operation Flexible Operational Activities (JO FOA).

The programme of the visit and the topics discussed met the expectations of the participants, while contributing to enriching their knowledge and understanding of the preparation of joint operations with EBCG Agency – Frontex.
