During July 2019, IOM Skopje organized three four-day MoviEQ workshops for youth participants from Studenichani, Saraj and Lipkovo, funded by the UK Government. The MoviEQ workshop methodology is based on the scientific postulates of Integrative Complexity theory that reaches the brain processes at a deep level, thus enabling the participants to develop their own complex narratives, which facilitate realistic solutions to the everyday problems. These workshops tackle closed, black-and-white thinking that makes a sharp and unsurmountable difference between “us” and “them”, which can drive individuals toward more extreme views. Therefore, the MoviEQ methodology deals with the structure of thinking that helps individuals shift from black and white categories towards a broader perspective. It promotes and helps develop critical thinking, emotional intelligence and empathy in young people.
As part of the same project, IOM Skopje organized five Music workshops for youth in five different communities (Vrapchishte, Studenichani, Lipkovo, Dolneni & Saraj). During these workshops the participants get introduced with the history of pop and rock music, music studio and studio recording technology, musical instruments, music production, composing music, arranging and issuing a sound carrier, team work in a band, music styles and genres, singing to a microphone, sound processing, mixing and postproduction, how to upload your own music and open personal profile to SoundCloud and YouTube.
