CAPACITATING SOCIAL WORKERS AND STUDENTS OF SOCIAL WORK IN PROVISION OF ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS

In November and December, under the EU funded project “Strengthening the national capacities in the area of asylum, migration and trafficking in human beings”, IOM Skopje has organized 4 two day Capacity Building Trainings on Trafficking in Human beings for 103 beneficiaries, out of which 49 professionals from 25 Centers for social work and 54 students from the Faculty of Philosophy – Institute for social work and social policy. Training participants were welcomed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP) representatives, including MLSP State Secretary who during the training for students noted the importance of the timely involvement of the future social workers in the human trafficking topic. The trainings for social workers were conducted by international experts, while the one for students were conducted by local experts, both with extensive experience in fight against human trafficking and were focused on building trainees skills in the area of proper identification, referral and assistance to victims of trafficking.
